10 AMAZING AFFORDABLE WAYS FOR LUXURY HOME DÉCOR IDEAS IN 2021

Are you obsessed with customized stand-out spaces for your home but cannot afford the luxury? Then keep reading for better tips and tricks for creative ways for reasonable home décor ideas. Since most of us have been staying at home for a pretty long time to help curb the pandemic situation, we desire to have a functional home with themes and décor that suits our aesthetic sense. This blog is all about the little elements that you can add in for opulence than it really is with a mix of DIY designs for luxury home décor ideas. Scroll down to know more about the instant upgrading of your home with cheap luxury design ideas:

1. WALLS, FLOORS, AND CEILINGS

You need to consider all the aspects of the design for a luxe outlook by considering all the interconnected surfaces that should be treated from the floors to the walls to the ceilings. All three elements are visually linked with the refreshed floors adding value to your home to the perfect design adoption of the wall to the inspiring ceiling ideas. We commonly tend to neglect ceilings which leads to an incompleteness while designing homes. Try not to leave your ceilings plain as it does not add any opulence. Your ceiling should stand out by painting the ceiling with shades one step lighter than your wall paints for attention-seeking with this intentional design idea. You can make your space appear luxurious with the most popular paint colors like beige, dusty green, brown, rich-toned greys, muted yellows, and so on as based on the advice of expert designers. One of the best ad cheap flooring options for a luxury floor is vinyl plank flooring.

2. WALLPAPER DESIGNS

Undoubtedly wallpaper designs add extra glam to your walls with their extraordinary patterns with the availability of different materials and colors that suit your requirements. You can go for neutral-toned and textured wallpapers for adding lux to your space. Wallpapers create a unique visual punch that can be used in different ways for your home spaces. They are used for enhancing your full wall or covering half of it if you cannot afford for the whole room, upgrading your old fixtures, covering the ceiling, book-shelf décor and so many more. Metallic wallpapers are commonly used for adding shimmer to your rooms with shades of Persephone Gold, Gloriette silver, Kassandra cream, Pearl Gold and the list goes on.

3. LAYER LIGHTING

Layer lighting draws the attention of your guests with beautiful chandeliers, table lamps, candles, floor lamps, gallery lighting, and so on for blending with the surfaces. The key point is that it is not about more lighting but understanding how to layer the lighting to create a luxurious environment and to make the room lively.

4. MULTIPLE SEATING ROOM

Creating cozy multiple seating rooms offers you multiple ways to enjoy the space that is well designed and organized. Multiple seating room ideas suit the aesthetic taste of every individual as it is regarded as anything with a seat next to it for customized seating arrangement. It can sometimes be a single cloth seat with a console table or two cloth chairs facing each other or a larger section with multiple chairs for creating conversational sparking areas without making it monotonous in a way everyone can join the ongoing conversation.

5. WINDOW TREATMENT

Window treatments can contribute to elevating the luxurious vibe of your home space with different colors and patterns that suit your space. The foremost task is to ensure to eliminate the plastic vinyl curtains by replacing them with sophisticated window coverings for a functional and sheer window treatment. You can decide if you want natural light to pass on easily or you need a darkroom setting. Sheer white curtains are the optimal way for getting a classic touch for a cheaper rate by ditching the builder-grade blinds for making them less ornate.

6. FOLLOW THE SYMMETRY RULE

Try to incorporate symmetry while placing your furniture in a balanced and aesthetically appealing order. By using the principle of symmetry, you create harmony in your spaces. Try to ground the spaces using similar fixtures. It is not necessary to place identical seats or cloth chairs. Placing similar table lamps or any pieces of furniture helps to draw your vision to the focal point of your room making it look classy and well designed. This reflective pattern brings about a feeling of completeness while encountering the elements of your home.

7. MORE IS LESS

Go for quality over quantity by DE cluttering your home space with essential fixtures that reflect your lifestyle. Make it a practice to buy one quality piece of furniture or décor fragments instead of stuffing the area with so many quality-less items that do not even blend together thereby making the space messier. For example, you can replace too many dissimilar sofas with one right scale sofa.

8. SWITCH YOUR LAMP SHADES

Swap your lamps by adding a large statement of the modern art piece in an entire space for creating an opulent vibe. Another way to creatively adorn your space is by adding hanging art pieces for a unique look, however, ensure the selected art piece is of the right size and shape to fit in the available space by not creating a messy look. Also, keep in mind not to overuse this technique of filling every empty space with modern art pieces or wallpaper hangings.

9. ADDITIONAL MIRRORS

How and where to place mirrors are the common queries of people. Mirrors are one of the most popular decorative items by tricking the visitors by showing that the room is more spacious than it genuinely is by amplifying the double amount of energy by reflecting. Always keep in mind to not place the mirrors opposite or above your bed space or your sofa. Placing a mirror across the dining tables brings out a charm for your dining room. Mirrors can offer varied advantages for a standard home space if that is placed in the right manner. Try to incline towards mirrors with powerful designs and shapes that suit your space.

6 TOP TIPS TO CONSIDER BEFORE HOME RENOVATION

home renovation tips

Budget, budget, budget

Home Renovation Tips-Renovating a home is a dream project for anyone. We Indians are so optimistic that we believe that a quality home renovation will naturally pull in any amount of money required as the demand. But remember we are no magicians to pull out money from our wallet any time the demand sets in. So it’s very important to a proper study on what type of renovation you need. Once you finalize your vision, you need to approach a professional designer who will take into account your needs, the space to be renovated and give you a finalized design to the estimated budget. Once you are clear with that, make sure to find 20% extra sources other than real budget. budget home renovation

Find the right contractor

Home renovation tips-Find the right contractor and designer who can work for you within your budget. Always a good contractor comes in through word of mouth. A good referral from a trusted source will have more credibility than others. If you do not have anyone to refer, then take your own time to find out the best person to do the work through the internet. Make sure to check on the design company with many sources before you finalize.realistic home renovation

Be realistic

Who doesn’t love a home right out of a magazine? Having a vision for your home is where the whole process of renovation starts. But be realistic in your dreams depending upon your budget, space, existing home, your surrounding environment and your resources, For example, my ancestral home underwent a renovation. They planned on to installing kitchen cabinets out of the teak wood. The carpenters did an extremely good work but the budget busted. We did pay up. But 2 years later we realized the panel boards were fake and have not be treated with anti-termite. The panel boards got infiltrated with termite and we had to do the whole kitchen once more. So be realistic.

Do your research

Make sure to do a lot of research before you really jump into the process of renovation. Talk to friends, family, industry experts who have experience in the renovation field. Understand the pros and cons of a renovation. Always have visual proofs and real-life proofs in mind that resembles your vision of renovation to show the designers. It makes easier for them to understand what you really want.

Renovate for the future

The renovation is in itself a big investment. It’s a very big attraction for everyone to keep their home accessorized and trendy as per the latest popular looks. But trends are ever changing. Always go for every green design. Design keeping in mind the future. Let your money spend be a solid asset for at least 30 years to come.

Check in every day

You may have given the renovation contract to the most trusted designer. But make sure to visit the renovation site every day. This helps to keep your contractor in line, you may discuss any last minute changes you want to include in the design and also change any designs in progress that you do not like. A mistake in the process if spotted at the right time can be rectified easily, but if you see it after a long time, then the whole redesigning process becomes expensive.

So ready to renovate your home? If you are looking for professional help feel free to contact Construction Company Kerala.

Proper Furniture for Your Dream Home

Once you’ve found the house of your dreams and are ready to move in, there’s still something to consider: furniture. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the average new home buyer spends about $3,778 on furnishings alone with some estimates reaching even higher. So, you’ll want to be careful to choose furniture that you love. Here, we’re going to take a look at some of the best tips for choosing the right furniture for your home.

Consider Your Style

For some, starting with their style goals is the best approach. Are you a fan of the sleek lines of modern design or minimalism? Do you prefer the rugged, natural look of rustic design?

Of course, choosing among countless interior design styles is more than slightly overwhelming. There are some resources online that can help users analyze their interests and how to consolidate that into a theme. Remember, since you’re investing a lot into this design, you’ll want to consider long-term interests. It’ll be pretty disheartening to purchase rooms full of furniture only to fall out of love with it a year in.

It also helps to consider the vibe of a room to decide its design. What would help make the bedroom relaxing? How can the living room be inviting for guests? A big part of interior design is reflecting feelings into appearance.

Start with the Staples

There are a few reasons to start with staple pieces such as beds, couches, and tables. On the more practical side, it puts your money into the necessities. Most people don’t purchase every piece of furniture for their home in one bulk purchase. So, this strategy will keep you from having the perfect lamp in your living room but having to sit on the floor.

These big pieces also set the stage for your style. It’s much less stressful to try and find touches that match the perfect couch rather than designing a whole room around a single accent piece.

Add Personality with Unique Pieces

While many idolize catalog and Pinterest-perfect styles, copying them down to the smallest details can suck the personality of the room. It goes a long way to look for accent pieces that add personal touches. This could be art you like, a uniquely shaped decorative piece, throw pillows with an interesting pattern, or a number of other touches.

Pay Attention to Construction

While style is important, your investment should also consider the longevity of the furniture. Any large investment you make – furniture or otherwise – should go to something that’s going to last for a while. It can be tempting to get the cheapest option but you have to prepare for replacing it at a quicker rate than more sturdy options.

If you enjoy DIY projects, you’ll want to also make sure to create sturdy objects. This can mean not substituting with flimsy material and making sure you have the right tools for the job.

Pay Attention to Colors

The color of the furniture can change the feel of a room just as much as the shape of it does. Not to mention, there are some colors that are more practical than others.

Warm colors tend to give a room a more inviting atmosphere. Pairing colors that are opposite to one another on the color wheel also creates some beautiful results. Don’t forget to consider paint colors when choosing complimentary furniture. Staining wood items can also lend to color schemes. Rustic and farmhouse themes, though, usually leave wood bare to preserve its natural beauty.

Moving back to practicality, dark colors are better in high-traffic areas or ones that are likely to get messy. That beige chair might look perfect in your living room but it probably won’t retain its looks around young children.

Consider Functional Pieces

No matter how big your home is, you’re eventually going to have to contend with space. An efficient way to tackle this before it becomes a large problem is to look for functional pieces. This could include an ottoman with storage or a pull-out couch that can work for a guest in a pinch. This will prevent clutter and disorganization.

A huge part of creating your dream home is to pick out the proper furniture. From functionality to appearances, these tips can help you choose what works best for you.

Building to Lease? Consider Universal Design to Increase Value

Building to Lease? Consider Universal Design to Increase Value

In India, ready-to-occupy homes rule the property market as the top trend that attracts renters. If you’re a developer or simply building a new home with the idea of leasing, then this is especially important. To increase the value of a property and attract a variety of qualified renters, you’ll want to ensure the home is ready to occupy by ensuring it can be occupied by anybody. This means creating a design and layout that it is accessible by a potential tenant regardless of their abilities, mobility or necessities.

Understanding the Benefits of Universal Design

Universal design is a term used to describe the layout of a property that is accessible to all. However, the universal design principals vary depending on the needs of the people in the community. In this case, universal design themes need to be altered to fit the cultural, social and mobility needs of the Indian people, which includes a focus on mental and physical disabilities of a younger age group. Studies note that 33% of those living with disabilities in India are in the 10 to 29-year-old age group, which means they will quickly become the ones who you’ll need to cater to in the property market.

Accessibility Provides Long-Term Value

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act was passed in 2016 but two-thirds of India’s states have still yet to implement its practices and regulations. This means that it’s still quite hard to make sense of the impact on the property market, but other housing markets around the world show that investing in accessibility by incorporating universal design actually increases a home’s value over time. It also allows tenants to live in a space that feels more modern and welcoming. To accomplish this, you can start during the design and construction phase by doing things such as making the kitchen feel more open with an accessible kitchen island or placing appliances in drawers that can be easily pulled out from waist level. Any way in which you can widen doors and walkways will also increase the accessibility of the home while making it feel more spacious.

Help Residents Automate Tasks

By 2021, smart home devices will surpass smartphones as a share of deployed connected and IoT devices all around the world. One easy way to increase a home’s accessibility is to include smart home technology. Seeing as the largest portion of disabled people in India falls into the younger age group, the benefits are two-fold. Not only will you be playing to their interests in technology, but you will allow them to automate tasks that might be difficult if they’re disabled or have limited mobility. Giving them the ability to remotely control locks, lights, and even appliances will help them gain more independence and likely attract quality tenants as it’s a major appeal in housing markets all over the world.

The Future of Home Design

As the housing market in India continues to be driven by the needs of the people living in it, universal design will continue to become more popular as a basic design principle. Developers looking to increase the value of a property can invest in universal design themes that include open floorplans and appliances designed to be reached by those with limited mobility. Add smart technology on top of that and you’ve got a high-quality, attractive property on your hands.

Developing To Sell? The Most Popular Smart Home Devices That Hook Prospective Homebuyers

Over the years, the smart home business has been growing exponentially. By 2020, the number of connected smart devices is expected to reach 20.4 billion and 12.8 billion of these will be for households, as per Forbes Middle East. With such numbers, it is important for developers and real estate specialists to study the smart home market to determine what potential home buyers want in a smart home. The Indian Government has launched several initiatives, including the ‘101 Smart Cities’ and ‘Housing For All by 2022’, which has led to increased investments and competition in the real estate industry. With the industry expected to hit $180 billion by 2020, smart home developers can outdo competitors by installing the most common smart devices, thereby increasing both the marketability and value.

Smart speakers

In the past, control was done by installing numerous smartphone apps, which was unreliable. Thanks to the rise of smart speakers, this problem is solved, and still the future holds more. The most reliable speakers currently dominating the market are Apple Homepad, Google Home, and Amazon Echo. Of these, the Apple Homepad is suitable for homes with Apple Kit as one can control devices using the IOS Home App. Similarly, Google Home has broader coverage, and Google Assistant, which powers the speaker is the easiest to talk to, as reported by TrustedReviews. Also, consumers claim that the Amazon Echo speakers offer the most extensive level of smart home control. For instance, with Amazon Alexa, you can operate multiple devices such as switching off music, heating, and lighting with one phrase. Marketers should be sure to install the choice that is compatible with popular devices.

Safety and security

Smart cameras capture what goes around your home and send notifications to your smartphone if they notice anything suspicious. For instance, smoke and carbon dioxide detectors are designed to contact your phone if they sense a fire. Similarly, smart home cameras let you see who is at the door even when you are not home. Also, pet cameras help keep an eye on your pets when you are out working. Online review sources show that when it comes to security, a majority of home buyers prefer outside models because most security threats come from outside. They, however, cost more and might need professional services.

Smart lighting and heating

Besides turning lights on and off via your phone or voice command, smart lighting entails a lot more. For example, with the right kit, you could set your lights to turn on if your camera detects motion. You could also have the lights turn on and off automatically when you are away, thereby fooling potential robbers into thinking you are home. Another entry point that home buyers look for is thermostats that sense when you are not home, whereby they change settings to away, a vice that helps save energy.

The leading smart home device manufacturers that are dominating India’s market are Apple, Amazon, and Google. As a developer or a property marketer, you should ensure to select the best provider depending on its respective popularity in your area. Also, since a significant part of the smart home technology is the ability for devices to integrate and communicate, when shopping consider checking the ‘works with’ information posted on the box.

Important Principles of Interior Designing

Best interior designers in Trivandrum

Interior designing is an art of using the elements of designing to make mind-blowing arrangements and decorations. Though the whole process of designing involves creativity and imagination of the designers, it is born out of few principles.

Principles of Interior Designing

Principles of interior designing can be defined as ways in which a designer uses the elements of designing into good decorations and arrangements.

The elements of designing are space, line, forms, light, color, texture and pattern. The principles check each element in a design against few criteria like magnificent vs. mediocre and right vs. wrong.

Principles of interior designing are

  1. Balance
  2. Unity
  3. Focus
  1. Balance

Balance makes sure that even when completely different objects are used for an arrangement, a visual balance is maintained. Like in a jigsaw puzzle every object completes the whole arrangement by complementing each other.  Three main balance concepts are: symmetrical for formal spaces, Asymmetrical for informal spaces and radial balance.

  1. Unity

Unity in a design can be achieved when the elements in a space are balanced. Visually everything in a space looks right.

  1. Focus

Every art will have a focal point around which the whole art is developed. Likewise in a design, there will be a focal point like an accent wall which is the focus of the design .i.e., something which we notice first when we walk into the room.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Maintaining and Servicing Your Swimming Pool

The last thing you want to find on a hot, summer day is a dirty swimming pool. But, we know that cleaning pools takes forever and it’s something that nobody wants to have to do.

However, if we go without cleaning our pool, the toxic waters can be detrimental to our health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that swimming in a dirty swimming pool or hot tub can cause diarrheal illnesses, rashes, ear infections, respiratory infections, chemical irritation of the eyes and lungs, and other infections.

Instead of letting your pool get to the level that these illnesses can occur, weekly maintenance sessions will promote a safe and healthy swimming environment.

This article will demonstrate the perfect step-by-step process to keeping your pool clean.

Time to Clean

For starters, it is important to spot-clean your pool of any debris that may have fallen into your pool while the cover was not in place. Leaves, sticks, or grass are among the top culprits of pool filter cloggers.

Be sure to remove these imposters every day or as often as you see them to keep them out of the pool filter.

By doing this, you are taking the first step in maintenance: prevention. If you keep the filter clean, you can prevent your pool from becoming any dirtier than it needs to be.

However, if your filter doesn’t seem to be cutting it or if it’s just getting too dirty, here’s the best way to maintain your pool.

1.    Test Your Pool’s pH Levels

If your pool’s pH levels are out of whack, different types of bacteria will thrive. Also, if your pool is too acidic or basic, it can cause irritation to the eyes or skin.

Use a pH strip to see exactly what your pool needs. To do this, purchase a set of pH strips from either an online retailer or a specialty pool store near you.

Dip the pH strip into the pool water and allow it to sit for approximately 30 seconds. The pH strip has squares that will change color depending on the alkalinity levels of your pool.

Based on the results from the pH strip, add chlorine, calcium, cyanuric acid, and any other pool cleaners or water softeners that you typically add to your pool.

Dissolve the substances in water and add them to the pool, allowing the filter to cycle for about an hour before adding the next solution. Afterward, test your pool’s pH levels with the strip to make sure the alkalinity is correct.

2.    Scrub Away

Sometimes, our pools can get so out of hand that we need to take matters into our own hands. If your pool is excessively green and mossy or full of debris, manual cleaning may be necessary in order to make the waters swimmable.

  • Grab a brush, siphon/vacuum, a hose, and a pool net filter to start removing the debris that is cluttering up your pool water.
  • Start by using the pool net to remove any sticks, twigs, branches, bugs, leaves, grass, or other debris that is floating on the pool’s surface.

Removing the surface-dwelling debris makes it easier to clean the entire pool in later steps.

  • Add some water to the pool to balance out what will be removed in the vacuuming or siphoning process.
  • Use a pool siphon or vacuum to remove any debris that may have settled to the bottom of the pool to get rid of the larger perpetrators.
  • After removing the larger leaves, sticks, twigs, and any other debris that may have been in your pool, use a brush to scrub away any mold or residue that may be left along the edges of your pool.

Removing this extra build-up of bacteria will help keep your pool cleaner after finishing the process.

  • Depending on how much debris fell into the pool from scrubbing the residue away, it may be necessary to either re-siphon or clean the surface of the pool.
  • Finish by testing your pools pH level with a strip and adding the necessary chemicals. Refer back to Step 1 for more details.

3.    Replace your pool filter often

A pool filter is what keeps the pool clean when you can’t, so it’s best to make sure your filter is up to date and being maintained.

If you forget to maintain the pool filter, the pool itself will become cloudy and dangerous.

Here are 5 tell-tale signs that you need to replace your cartridge pool filter:

  • High or Low pool pressure
  • Damaged end caps
  • Ripped Fabric within the pool filter
  • Collapsed Cartridges
  • Flat Pleats

If you notice any of these within your pool filter, it’s probably a good time to invest in a new filter.

There are three types of pool filters that are used the most often.

  • SAND FILTERS:

Sand filters use a tank partially full of sand where the water can travel through and filter out most of the smaller debris you may miss with the net cleaner.

  • DE FILTERS:

DE Filters use grids with seashell and other sea creature particles and secretants to filter out higher rates of debris to keep your water fresh. Typically, DE filters can filter out even smaller particles than most other filters.

  • CARTRIDGE FILTERS:

Cartridge filters are where there are multiple compartments of polyester wrapped around a PVC core. With multiple cartridges, you can filter out many different sizes of invasive material.

However, if you’re looking for a way to avoid a pool filter altogether, purchasing an above ground swimming pool can make cleaning even easier.

Replacing a pool filter will run you about a hundred dollars depending on the type of filter you own and installation takes minutes, but keeping your pool system up-to-date can make or break your health.

Cleaning your pool doesn’t have to be an impossible feat. By taking the necessary precautions before your pool gets to be too dirty, you can save the hassle of a full-on deep clean for another day.

Maintaining your pool is as simple as 1-2-3, test, scrub, and replace.

With summer right around the corner, these three simple steps will help you make your backyard the go-to spot for family and friend gatherings.

Remodeling your bathroom shouldn’t be daunting, but there are so many different fixtures, sinks, bathtubs, showers, toilets and cabinets that it can be hard to find something that goes together.

But, if you’re in need of a bathroom makeover, this article is for you.

This bathroom makeover effortlessly combines some of 2018’s top bathroom design trends to make your bathroom modern and beautiful.

Say goodbye to your brass faucets and boring counter space. Transform your old and rickety bathroom into a work of art using these trendy fixtures.

Making the Most of Your Space

Finding huge houses in most suburban areas of the United States is getting to be pretty difficult. With housing prices rising, it’s hard to find a space that is big enough that isn’t going to destroy our bank accounts.

That’s why, in 2018, we have to make the most of our space.

Bathroom enclosures

Even if your bathroom starts off small, there are ways to make it seem larger by designing your bathroom around the space you have.

Smaller vanity areas, standing showers, and under-counter storage can help to maximize the space you have. Adding larger mirrors above the sink or on an empty wall can also help to open up the room and make it feel less closed off.

Illuminate the Vanity

When you wake up in the morning or if you’re getting ready for a big night out, you need the space you use to pamper yourself up to be fully functional.

With the proper lighting, you can make your vanity area feel larger and the increased brightness will help to make getting ready easier.

Adding bright lights and a large mirror will help to open up the space and can help you make the most of your vanity.

Make it Black

Black Themed Bathroom designs

As we entered 2018, a new trend has sprouted within the bathroom: matte black fixtures.

Brass and chrome/silver faucets and other fixtures are a thing of the past and matte black fixtures are here to take over.

Matte black faucets have been seen most often paired with a white or light colored countertop to provide the perfect contrast a bathroom needs.

Floor Heating

Let’s face it– there’s almost nothing worse than cold feet. And, especially after getting out of a nice, steamy shower, the last thing we want is to step foot on the chilly tile floor.

Unsurprisingly, many have turned to under-floor and under-counter heating systems to warm up their bathroom.

Whether you currently have wood, tile, vinyl or even concrete in your bathroom, you can install under-floor heating to help keep your feet warm.

The All-Natural Color Pallette

Over the last few years, people have loved neutral colors in their bathrooms.

When selecting cabinetry, countertops, tiling, or paint for their walls, people have often turned to the light and comforting greys, browns, and off-whites to effortlessly promote a sense of coziness and home in their bathroom.

This trend has rightfully cared on its way into 2018.

Adding a neutral backsplash, countertop, or tile floor can help transform your bathroom from drab to fab.

The Addition of an Accent

People are sick and tired of having boring bathrooms. 2018 is all about making the bathroom more than just the room where you do your business and leave.

In order to make bathrooms more interesting and even the center of attention in a home, designers have seen a spike in the interest of adding accent walls and floors to bathrooms.

Wooden panelling, intricate tilework, shaped tiles, and colorful backsplashes are just a few of the best ways to add an extra sizzle to your bathroom’s presentation.

Hovering Double-Vanities

Hovering Double-Vanities

Going back to quality vanities, the place in the bathroom where we spend the most of our time. In 2018, we’ve seen a lot of eyes tracking floating vanities.

These vanities do exactly as they say; they float– well, not exactly. These vanities are cemented onto the walls and create an overhang without any plumbing lines beneath them.

Often times, with this vanity you are compromising the space you could have used for extra storage in order to create a more aesthetically-pleasing area, but it’s all worth it if you can spare the space for cabinetry elsewhere.

Store a stool for you and your partner under the overhanging countertop that you can use to relax as you get ready for the day.

High-Tech Bathroom Appliances

Now, we’ve seen high-tech toilets, showers, and heating enter our bathrooms.

Choose the temperature of your shower water, flush for number one or number two, or even change the lighting of your bathroom from the tub. There are endless ways that technology can and will enter the bathroom.

Open-Ended Shelving/Stand-Alone Storage

Throughout 2018, we’ve seen an uprise of freestanding furniture and shelving that proudly display a person’s belongings for ease of access.

Install a simple, rustic wooden plank shelf or an antique armoire in your bathroom for a beautiful centerpiece to grab your guest’s attention and an affordable and functional storage space.

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is a beautiful ivory-white marble mausoleum in Agra, India. Taj Mahal was commissioned by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who build the structure in memory of his wife Mumtaz.  It took 22000 of his followers to finish building the Taj Mahal in 1643.

To get the goods to the construction site it apparently took a thousand elephants. The famous shape of the Taj Mahal, the one that makes it stand out compared to the other buildings is called Mughal architecture. The tomb itself is made up of complete marble and it is uniquely designed so that if the structure was to collapse it would fall away from the tomb of Mumtaz. And of course within these tombs is the sarcophagi of the emperor and his wife.

In today’s world, if you were to build it, it would cost 52.8 billion Indian rupees!!

The Colosseum

The Colosseum is one of the most famous and recognized structures of antiquity. The amphitheater was commissioned by Emperor Vespasian in 72 AD and he built it on the side of New York’s palace to finally erase memories of the hated emperor. At the inaugural games over 9000 wild animals were killed for entertainment in front of an audience of 55000 people. There were also of course gladiators, Roman’s favorite spectacle.

Following the collapse of the empire, the Colosseum fell into ruin. But by the 14th-century architects had learned to admire the classical detail and then plundered the structure for building materials. Some of it went to build the famous churches in the world.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa

The field of miracles and one of the most extraordinary buildings in the world, the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Alongside is Pisa’s cathedral and baptistery, all clad in cream color marble and stone.

Building continued and the tilt increased defying gravity. In recent years the tower was closed in order to stabilize it. The lean was decreased by 15 inches.

In 2001 the tower reopened. It has been declared safe for the next 300 years.

Eiffel tower

Eiffel tower in Paris is the most visited paid monument in the world. The building is named after its main designer, French metallic structure expert, and engineer, Gustave Eiffel.

The iron lady as it is sometimes called hasn’t been always the beloved structure as it is today. During its construction phase, many protested against the construction of the tower. Even after its construction, the tower was highly controversial amongst the Persians.

Luckily for Eiffel tower haters, Eiffel had only the permission to keep it for 20 years and after that, it would be demolished. But as the tower was allowed to remain unscathed even after the time had expired as it proved valuable for the telecommunication purposes. Throughout the years the Eiffel tower has seen a lot. Today almost everybody loves the tower.

3 Simple Home Interior Improvements That Will Add Value To Your Home

3 Simple Home Interior Improvements That Will Add Value To Your Home

Home Improvement:-Your home is undoubtedly one of the biggest investments you will ever make. The initial purchase is, however, just the start of your relationship with your new house. Renovations of varying magnitudes are bound to follow, often resulting in an ongoing, long-term project involving various areas of the home.  Whether you ultimately choose to renovate your home for your own pleasure, to create additional space or to resell it, you are bound to benefit from these value-boosting renovations.

Minor bathroom remodel

The average return at resale of a minor bathroom remodel is in the region of 102% according to US-based HGTV, depending on whether you do some of the work yourself or rely on contractors.  A minor transformation generally includes a new tub, toilet, sink, and vanity as well as a fresh coat of paint on the walls.  When remodeling your bathroom it is important to keep abreast of current trends without overdoing it. Natural materials such as wood and marble are predicted to be popular next year, together with a color palette filled with forest greens, ash greys, and earthy mushrooms. If you want to really add value to your home consider investing in a range of smart bathroom devices such as ambient lighting or a smart shower head.

Major kitchen remodel

A major kitchen remodel is undeniably one of the most expensive home renovations you can undertake. Luckily you can expect a return of as much as 91% when reselling. It is typically safe to budget as much as 10% of your home’s value towards a major kitchen makeover. When remodeling, aim to create more space by removing any cabinets above your counters and be sure to choose a color scheme that is both trendy and practical. According to kitchen design predictions for next year, metallic appliances are making way for those with a colorful or dark matte finish while shades of blue and green, coupled with wood and quartz finishes. You can keep your renovation costs down by doing most of the work yourself. Just don’t over-exert yourself and familiarise yourself with all equipment and techniques to prevent injury and costly mistakes.

Redoing your walls and your floors

Giving your entire home a fresh coat of paint and redoing your floors can see you enjoy a return up to 40% when selling your home. Some of the top colour palettes for next year include neutral earthy tones such as clay and hazelnut, soft pastels, dark greens, mustard and a whole range of blues. As far as flooring is concerned, hardwood, cork, and coloured concrete will all continue to be popular choices, adding value to your home while changing the overall look completely.

Renovating your home is bound to be a very exciting and rewarding project.  By staying abreast of the latest trends while not discarding your own personal tastes entirely, you are bound to give your home a striking and valuable makeover.

The phases involved in interior designing

Who is an interior designer?

An interior designer is someone who has been trained to use space effectively and join hand with the quality and safety of interior areas for making them aesthetically pleasing.  He/she requires the combined knowledge of building codes, critical and creative thinking, phycology and technology for the purpose of improving the quality of life and increasing productivity. All of this is accomplished to protect your health, safety and welfare.

The following are the important phases involved in interior designing:

1. Programming phase

The programming phase is where the project is built brick by brick or decision by decision. The programmer researches current and projected needs in such areas as information, privacy and security. A thorough programming process is essential for or maintaining an orderly and cost-effective design process later in the project.

2. Schematic design

Schematic design is the initial design phase translating all the research gathered from programming into rough sketches and ideas for the client. Interior designers combine their skills of problem-solving, phycology, colour theory, environmental methods and codes to rearrange spaces in a way they would be intuitive and safe for future and current users of the space.

3. Design development and Material selection

The design development phase of the process refines concepts created in the schematic phase. First interior designers draw the building shell. The permanent fixtures and millworks are the next. Then they shall check out on the furniture and of course, they create a plenty of notes to make the object clear.

During the design process, the interior designers also select appropriate materials based on their application.

4. Perspective

The most common thing that a client sees is the perspective or 3D modelling on the space. This program is one of the greatest tools interior designers possess. The 3D model displays the design to the client easily.

5. Construction Documents

In this phase, the drawings created in the design and development phase are turned into working documents for the contractor.

6. Construction phase

In the construction phase, the role of an interior designer is to check whether the works conform to the contraction joints and specifications.

Interior design is about much more than aesthetics. It is a combination of a series of complex decisions to solve a problem.

How to decide between architecture and civil engineering career?

This is a very common question. People are often confused about civil engineering and architecture. Although architects and engineers perform parallel functions in the design, the infrastructure of the building, etc., they are actually very different. There is big delineation between the two. The four points below explains the major difference between architects and civil engineers so you know which to choose when it comes to your career.

  1. Character traits – architecture and civil engineering

Architects and engineers often approach problems and situations from a different foundation. Architects have a tendency to be more creative, think more outside the box and are more connected to the aesthetics of things whereas engineers have a tendency to be more quantitative, more numbers are driven, rational driven and are more reasoning. If you have a tendency to draw, be more creative and have a colourful type of personality and way of thinking then architecture is probably for you.

  1. Design – architecture and civil engineering

Engineers rely on equations, formulas and scientific principles to solve problems, develop solutions and conclusions to whatever they are working on in their field. Whereas architects have the tendency to consider the spatial functionality, the connection to its surroundings, how things integrate into aesthetics and overall connectivity to neighbouring entities whether it be buildings or roadway facility or functionality of a park or something. The approach to the overall design thinking is different between the two.

  1. Workflow – architecture and civil engineering

This is what architects have a big advantage. Because it comes out to feeling and energy, aesthetics, creativity and how it looks. Architects typically are the starters for the planning. They are the ones who create the blueprint. They are the ones who have the vision for what the engineers are going to build.  Then the engineers take those vision and the blueprint and decide on how they are going to do it, what’s the most cost-effective approach for this, what is the right materials for this type of design. If you want to be in the creative part you want to be the architecting these types of concepts and you should probably go for architecture. Whereas if you want to calculate things in a data-driven fashion behind what is going on, then engineering is for you.

  1. Curriculum -architecture and civil engineering

An architectural curriculum in university is typically going to little be more artsy and theoretical. It’s more about history and design. Whereas engineering courses involve heavy mathematics. If you don’t like math then you definitely shouldn’t be an engineer. The course includes engineering maths, calculus, statistics, structural analysis, structural design, concrete and steel design, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and so on. If math is a struggle for you and you still want to be connected to designing buildings and infrastructure, then go for architecture.

Things to consider when hiring Home and Building Designers

A person’s home is what he dreams of building for years, and once that dream turns into a reality, his attention is next turned towards the interiors of his home. The interiors contain a touch of the home owner’s personality and can be minimalist or ostentatious depending on the owner’s tastes and his budget. Because of the sense of ownership that it affords, and because of the scope of saving on some expenses, many people go for a do-it-yourself approach to home interiors. They purchase the raw materials themselves, appoint the workers, and supervise the work while it is being done. But because all homeowners might not be fully conversant with the construction and interiors industry, they often end up spending more. Also, it might be a strain on the home owner’s time to have to spend days, weeks and even months at the site of his house, which could easily hamper his other work.

That is where home and building designers can come in handy. They have the required expertise to do a good job and give your home a great look both from inside and out. You might think you will end up spending more, but if you keep a few things in mind, you can have the job done without burning a hole in your pocket and also get good quality.

Clear Expectations – The client needs to be very clear in his mind what sort of involvement he would be willing and able to give, and also what would be the expectations he would have from the designer. Would he be hands-on and expect to be involved in every small detail, or would he want the designer to decide everything? Would the designer need to just explain to him verbally what he plans to do, or would he need to show him pictures or maybe even show him real samples? This clarity will help the work progress smoothly after it starts.

Precise View of Budget and Scope of Work – The client needs to be very clear what exactly he needs and how much he would be willing to spend on it. If this is not done, then things can get added on as work progresses, and costs can escalate.

Find Out Who You Are Hiring – It is always a good thing to check the credentials of the interior designer you are planning to hire before the contract is signed. Friends and neighbours can give you feedback, or they can collect feedback from someone they know, or you could log on to the internet and read reviews if available.

Set Timelines – You need to discuss and agree with the home designer not only the overall time the project will take but also at what frequency you will be given a status report. This will help avoid heartburn later if both sides are not clear and agreed upon the expected timelines. You might also want to put in a penalty clause if timelines are not adhered to.

Enhancing Home Design using IoT Tech

Enhancing Home Design using IoT Tech

In India, the number of IoT devices will increase to 2.7 billion units by 2020 according to a NASSCOM report. If you compare that with the 200 million units that the report states were available in 2016, you can see just how significant that increase will be. With this kind of forecast, it is not surprising that home designers and construction companies are looking into ways they can exploit these changes to increase the value of homes in India. IoT can be used to enhance security, entertainment and change the way you light your home.

IoT and Security

There are security cameras, door and window sensors and other gadgets that work using the internet of things. These devices can either be connected to the internet through Wi-Fi, or may use protocols like Zigbee to communicate with other devices in your home. For example, your connected security camera can send you a notification when someone is standing by your door when you are away from home. While this actually enhances your home security, it may make you vulnerable to hackers that could use the internet to access your home’s security cameras. To prevent this you may need to use technology that secures the networks your smart devices use to communicate with one another. One way to do this is by securing your PC, tablets and smartphones online using VPN. You may also turn to devices that use protocols such as Radio Frequency (RF), which are harder to hack.

IoT for maintaining your house structure

Any house buyer will appreciate technology that helps maintain the structure of their home to enhance its durability.  One way this can be done is by installing sensors in strategic areas of your plumbing system to help you detect water leaks before they become a major problem. These sensors can send notifications to your phone when there is a leak. Waterproofing your home prevents paint peels, warping of wood on wooden floors, cracks and other major issues. There are other IoT devices that can detect gas leaks, smoke and other air impurities in your home.

IoT and your Electricity Bill

Home designers that want to incorporate IoT devices in homes should care more about the benefits these devices bring to a home not their appearance. They should also be aware that a few quality smart devices in a home are better than a home cluttered with smart devices that may never be used.

Turning off all the lights and devices that use electricity when they are not being used is one way to cut your electricity bill. However, IoT based technologies can automatically regulate power supply associated with electronics or appliances in your home during peak usage periods. This can save many Kerala residents a lot of money especially during the summer months. If you cannot afford a full IoT electricity management system, you can still save energy and money by using devices such as smart thermostats, smart lights and smart plugs. For example, smart plugs can automatically turn off devices that may be wasting energy in your home, and smart lights can turn off if they detect that a room is not occupied.

The key to a healthy diet is to: Healthy Living Tips

  • Eat the right amount of calories for how active you are, so that you balance the energy you consume with the energy you use. If you eat or drink too much, you’ll put on weight. If you eat and drink too little, you’ll lose weight.
  • Eat a wide range of foods to ensure that you’re getting a balanced diet and that your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.

It is recommended that men have around 2,500 calories a day (10,500 kilojoules). Women should have around 2,000 calories a day (8,400 kilojoules). Most adults are eating more calories than they need, and should eat fewer calories.

Eat lots of fruit and veg – Healthy Living Tips

It’s recommended that we eat at least five portions of a variety of fruit and veg every day. It’s easier than it sounds.

Why not chop a banana over your breakfast cereal, or swap your usual mid-morning snack for a piece of fresh fruit?

Unsweetened 100% fruit juice, vegetable juice and smoothies can only ever count as a maximum of one portion of your 5 A DAY.

For example, if you have two glasses of fruit juice and a smoothie in one day, that still only counts as one portion.

Eat more fish – including a portion of oily fish – Healthy Living Tips

Fish is a good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals. Aim to eat at least two portions of fish a week, including at least one portion of oily fish. Oily fish contains omega-3 fats, which may help to prevent heart disease.

Oily fish include:

  • salmon
  • mackerel
  • trout
  • herring
  • fresh tuna
  • sardines
  • pilchards.

Non-oily fish include:

  • haddock
  • plaice
  • coley
  • cod
  • canned tuna
  • skate
  • hake

If you regularly eat a lot of fish, try to choose as wide a variety as possible.

You can choose from fresh, frozen and canned: but remember that canned and smoked fish can be high in salt.

Cut down on saturated fat and sugar – Healthy Living Tips

Saturated fat in our diet

We all need some fat in our diet, but it’s important to pay attention to the amount and type of fat we’re eating. There are two main types of fat: saturated and unsaturated. Too much saturated fat can increase the amount of cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk of developing heart disease.

The average man should have no more than 30g saturated fat a day. The average woman should have no more than 20g saturated fat a day, and children should have less than adults.

Saturated fat is found in many foods, such as:

  • hard cheese
  • cakes
  • biscuits
  • sausages
  • cream
  • butter
  • lard
  • pies.

Try to cut down on your saturated fat intake, and choose foods that contain unsaturated fats instead, such as vegetable oils, oily fish and avocados.

For a healthier choice, use just a small amount of vegetable oil or reduced-fat spread instead of butter, lard or ghee. When you’re having meat, choose lean cuts and cut off any visible fat.

Sugar in our diet

Regularly consuming foods and drinks high in sugar increases your risk of obesity and tooth decay.

Sugary foods and drinks, including alcoholic drinks, are often high in energy (measured in kilojoules or calories), and if eaten too often, can contribute to weight gain. They can also cause tooth decay, especially if eaten between meals.

Many packaged foods and drinks contain surprisingly high amounts of free sugars. Free sugars are any sugars added to foods or drinks, or found naturally in honey, syrups and unsweetened fruit juices.

Cut down on:

  • sugary fizzy drinks
  • alcoholic drinks
  • sugary breakfast cereals
  • cakes
  • biscuits
  • pastries

These foods contain added sugars: this is the kind of sugar we should be cutting down on, rather than sugars that are found in things such as fruit and milk.

Food labels can help: use them to check how much sugar foods contain. More than 22.5g of total sugars per 100g means that the food is high in sugar, while 5g of total sugars or less per 100g means that the food is low in sugar.

Get tips on cutting down sugar in your diet.

Eat less salt – no more than 6g a day for adults – Healthy Living Tips

Eating too much salt can raise your blood pressure. People with high blood pressure are more likely to develop heart disease or have a stroke.

Even if you don’t add salt to your food, you may still be eating too much. About three-quarters of the salt we eat is already in the food we buy, such as breakfast cereals, soups, breads and sauces.

Use food labels to help you cut down. More than 1.5g of salt per 100g means the food is high in salt. Adults and children over 11 should eat no more than 6g of salt (about a teaspoonful) a day. Younger children should have even less.

Get tips on cutting down on salt in your diet.

Get active and be a healthy weight – Healthy Living Tips

Eating a healthy, balanced diet plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy weight, which is an important part of overall good health.

Being overweight or obese can lead to health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, heart disease and stroke. Being underweight could also affect your health.

Check whether you’re a healthy weight by using our Healthy weight calculator.

Most adults need to lose weight, and need to eat fewer calories to do this. If you’re trying to lose weight, aim to eat less and be more active. Eating a healthy, balanced diet will help: aim to cut down on foods that are high in saturated fat and sugar, and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables.

Don’t forget that alcohol is also high in calories, so cutting down can help you to control your weight.

Physical activity can help you to maintain weight loss or be a healthy weight. Being active doesn’t have to mean hours at the gym: you can find ways to fit more activity into your daily life. For example, try getting off the bus one stop early on the way home from work, and walking.

Being physically active may help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. For more ideas, see Get active your way.

After getting active, remember not to reward yourself with a treat that is high in energy. If you feel hungry after activity, choose foods or drinks that are lower in calories, but still filling.

If you’re underweight, see our page on underweight adults. If you’re worried about your weight, ask your GP or a dietitian for advice.

Don’t get thirsty – Healthy Living Tips

We need to drink plenty of fluids to stop us getting dehydrated – the government recommends 6-8 glasses every day.

This is in addition to the fluid we get from the food we eat. All non-alcoholic drinks count, but water and lower-fat milk are healthier choices.

Try to avoid sugary soft and fizzy drinks that are high in added sugars and calories, and are also bad for teeth.

Even unsweetened fruit juice and smoothies are high in free sugar. Your combined total of drinks from fruit juice, vegetable juice and smoothies should not be more than 150ml a day – which is a small glass.

For example, if you have 150ml of orange juice and 150ml smoothie in one day, you’ll have exceeded the recommendation by 150ml.

When the weather is warm, or when we get active, we may need more fluids.

Don’t skip breakfast – Healthy Living Tips

Some people skip breakfast because they think it will help them lose weight. In fact, research shows that people who regularly eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight.

Breakfast has also been shown to have positive effects on children’s mental performance and increase their concentration throughout the morning.

A healthy breakfast is an important part of a balanced diet, and provides some of the vitamins and minerals we need for good health.

A wholegrain, lower-sugar cereal with fruit sliced over the top is a tasty and nutritious breakfast.

Base your meals on starchy carbohydrates – Healthy Living Tips

Starchy carbohydrates should make up just over one third of the food you eat. They include potatoes, bread, rice, pasta and cereals.

Choose wholegrain varieties (or eat potatoes with their skins on) when you can: they contain more fibre, and can help you feel full for longer.

Most of us should eat more starchy foods: try to include at least one starchy food with each main meal. Some people think starchy foods are fattening, but gram for gram the carbohydrate they contain provides fewer than half the calories of fat.

Keep an eye on the fats you add when you’re cooking or serving these types of foods because that’s what increases the calorie content, for example oil on chips, butter on bread and creamy sauces on pasta.

How to increase your home value?

Boosting Property Value Through Landscape and Exterior Design

How to Boost Property Value
How to Boost Property Value

When putting a house on the market or building one from scratch, the curb appeal of your  property cannot be overstated. According to one study, even planting a leafy tree in front of your house increases median property. But it’s important to keep in mind that exterior decorating involves thoroughly maintaining all aspects of your property outside the home, including lawns, pavements, and leafy plants. Cumulatively, strengthening  your home’s curb appeal will attract the attention of real estate agents and buyers alike, giving them an immaculate impression of what your property has to offer.

Rethink Blank Spaces

Develop a clean, crisp look for the blank spaces of your property to make it look well-maintained. For instance, in gardening, mowing your lawn regularly for freshly cut grass draws attention to more elaborate structures, like large trees and leafy plants. Likewise, keeping the walls and pavements outside your house clean will bring your home’s design to the forefront by emphasizing blank space. Economically, many businesses cite clean driveways and parking spaces as a prime opportunity to attract customers into the shop by giving a strong first impression. The same goes for real estate: keeping your driveways clean and freshly paved will send a strong first message to visitors upon entering your property.

The Economics of Curb Appeal

Curb appeal is a well-documented phenomenon when studying the real estate market and looking at how to sell a property quickly for increased value. By one estimate, the increase in property value from good landscape maintenance is priced at a hefty 15% of the property’s total worth. But curb appeal matters even more in urban cities, like Trivandrum, where greenery and vegetation help contribute to improved air quality. Even single apartments on the market can benefit from curb appeal through taking small steps, such as cleaning walkways and planting window boxes, that draw attention to your home. And of course, strong exterior maintenance will set your apartment apart from other units in the premises.

Modern Landscaping in Trivandrum

In Trivandrum, the possibilities for improving home landscape design are particularly infinite, ranging from small steps to major external renovations. Kerala’s lush, tropical climate means that flowering plants can grow abundantly and blossom throughout most of the warm season. Kerala ENVIS offers a guide to help identify common garden plants for beginners, which is especially important if you are tackling an overgrown garden and trying to weed out excess shrubbery. In general, September through January is the most effective season for planting new seeds in Kerala. But many can be planted year-round will adequate water and sunlight.

Think of your home’s external appearance as a shop window: keeping an attractive look will draw customers in, raising interest in your property from prospective buyers. The end result, of course, is a strong investment for your home which can make it more attractive for a competitive market.

Benefit of having the Right Mattress for a Good Night Sleep

A good night sleep is essential to feel energized, to carry on activities for the next day without losing on enthusiasm. A good mattress in such a case helps in increasing the sleep quality, thereby decreasing the neck and back pain associated with a bad mattress.

Now-a-days there are wide range of variety and types of mattress available , each having its own different functions and cost.  As a designer, while selecting mattress, we have to look at all aspects like comfort, health, luxury as well as budget

While purchasing a mattress please follow below mentioned

One can choose between a firm mattress, plush layers or box top matresses.  Firm mattress tops are best suited.  After being for a number of years in architecture and design industry and having received various feedbacks, we suggest firm  mattress to client as a priority, as they are comfortable to sleep, provide pain relief and are comparatively economical

Choose a Right Mattress that is right for you

There are broadly five types of mattresses available in India

  • Coir mattresses
  • Spring mattresses
  • Foam mattresses
  • Memory foam mattresses
  • Latex mattresses

Strictly avoid Memory foam mattresses

Memory foam mattresses are best for back pain and body aches. But they can be potentially dangerous and harmful. They can be inflammable, not child safe and releases toxic emissions.

Better to avoid Latex mattresses

Latex mattresses are most expensive of all the mattresses. The advantage you get is long term durability. Latex mattresses can easily withstand up to 10 years. But we have not found certifications on Latex safety. If you are keen on this ask the vendor for product manual and look for certifications. As it is super expensive you can safely ignore it.

Coir mattresses are firm

As the name suggest coir mattress is made of Coconut coir and very much eco-friendly, healthy as well. But coir is by nature hard so Coir mattresses are not superior in terms of softness and comfort.

Spring vs Foam mattresses

Spring mattress is made of springs and small coils stuffed under and have a nice cushion wrapper. The foam mattress is filled by foam with multiple layers. Spring mattresses are cheaper than Foam mattresses. The main difference is bounce nature of Spring mattresses, called as motion transfer. If your partner moves in sleep it may effect you. If you can easily wake up in sleep because of movements then Spring mattresses is not good choice. If you sleep alone, or your partner sleeps like a rock, or you don’t care even if your partner moves then Spring mattresses suits you.

Construct a Pool With Child Safety in Mind

Everyday, ten people die from unintentional drowning of which two are under the age of 14. If safety precautions aren’t taken, swimming pools are one of the biggest dangers. Implementing safety procedures shouldn’t be left until after the pool is complete, but during and even before construction as well. If you are looking to build a swimming pool, there is no doubt you are in for many fun summers with your children. However, as with all construction, regulations are important and this fun must be within clear boundaries.

Lay Down the Rules, Before You Lay Down the Pool

The most effective way to ensure the safety of your children is to teach them the dangers. Let them know that the swimming pool will only be built on the condition of them following certain rules. This way, they can expect a reward in return for their safe behavior. Explain that the construction site is completely off limits until the swimming pool is safe to use.

Start With Fencing

In most states, pool fencing regulations require that four foot high fences surround all private pools with a depth of more than 18 inches. This fence is usually installed around the pool after it has been built, but why not build this first? That way, you have a clear boundary where a child can be kept out. Even before the pool is filled, a construction site with a large ditch is a dangerous environment.

Add a Pool Cover

Pool covers are one of the most effective ways to prevent swimming pool drowning. During the construction, before the pool is in use, a high quality pool cover will make it almost impossible for a small child to accidentally end up in a dangerous situation. Drowning deaths among 1 to 4 year olds outnumber motor vehicle deaths, so consider a installing a pool cover as important as wearing a seatbelt.

Consider Safety Gadgets

Pool safety is all about layering. First you have the self locking fence that is too high to climb, with a handle a small child can’t reach. Then you have a pool cover that further prevents access to the pool if they somehow do breach the fence. Finally, specially designed technology can act as a final line of defense.

Alarms on the door are a good way to alert parents if the child has gained entry. Once again, install this at the start of construction, rather than when the pool is already built. An underwater alarm can then sound if it detects motion in the pool. This will immediately alert you and even emergency services to a potential drowning situation. By getting to the scene quickly, the chances of serious injury are lessened.

Building a pool is a great construction project for the family. It isn’t too difficult or expensive, but can provide many hours of joy. However, from before the construction begins, focus on the safety of young family member. Those under 4 years old are most at risk, so focus on fencing, pool covers and alarm technology for maximum safety.

Vastu Questions and answers

Vastu Questions and answers

Is Vastushasthra  for the followers of Hinduism?

Answer: No,   The Indian Rishis and munis invented Vasthrushasthra for all those living on the earth. It is equally applicable to all belonging  to any religion, culture or breed

The earth encircles the sun and spins on its own axis, i.e. it is not stable. What is the utility of vasthu in such a condition?

Answer:It is right that the earth revolves on its axis and encircles the sun too. Our whole universe is also running towards infinite in the Milky way very fast.  Many carriages of atrain run on the rail simultaneously. All the luggage in the carriages is stable while they are in motion. If suddenly the speed is either reduced or increased the luggage is disturbed.  Similarly, the earth is also revolving on its axis with a uniform speed from the beginning. All the fixe things on its surface are stable. The basis of the vasthushasthra is omnipresent five elements, viz. earth, water, fire, air and sky

How does a layman know whether his house is as per vasthu or not?

Suppose your life is smooth, peaceful and business is good.  When you change the residence and life becomes miserable, peace is disturbed, loss in business, face health problems then it clearly suggests that the new house or renovation of old one is not as per vasthu.

If in spite of Vastnu defects life is happy and peaceful even than the removal of Vasthu fefects is required?

No. It is true that when the fortune is favourable and strong Vasthu defects are not felt. But when the fortune is not favourable then Vasthu defects become strong and disrupt the life.  As long as fortune is favourable there is no need to make any changes in Vasthu.  We visit our doctor only when we fall ill.  A healthy person does not go to see his doctor.  When day to day life is disturbed then only the removal of the Vasthu defects should be done

Does Vasthu affect men and women separately?

As per Vasthu east of the north east, north of the north-east, west of the north-west and west of the south-west represent region of man..  South-east, south, sourth of the south-west and north of the north-west represent woman.  All the other directions of Vasthu affect them equally.

Do east-facing or north-facing plots are as per Vasthu?

No,  All the four directions are natural.  Construction can be carried out facing any one direction as per Vasthu.  But as per Vasthu much open space should be left in the north and east directions to get more advantages of morning vital sun rays.  Less open space should be left in the south and west directions to avoid contact with the negative rays of the sun afternoon.  That’s why there is no ample parking space in front of the south and west facing houses.  East and north-facing plots are therefore rated better.

Is Vasthu applicable to the residents of ground floor only?

Residents of ground floor are affected by Vasthu 100% because this is related to the earth.  Underground water source, garden, main gate, high and low of the ground and shape of the gtound are all on the earth.  The effect of the earth on Vasthu decreases as the height increases.  It is only 80 to 90% effective on 8th -9th floor approximate.

Can Vasthu defects be eradicated by the Chinese Vasthushasthra –Feng shui?

Yes.  Principles of the Feng Shui says that if there is a problem there is solution. But it is applicable to eradicate every small Vasthu defects only.

What is the similarity between Indian Vasthrusasthra and Chinese Feng Shui?

There are different systems of medicine, e.g. Ayurved, Allopathy, Homeopathy and Unani etc.  with only one aim, i.e. to keep the human being healthy.  Similarly, Indian Vasthusasthra and Feng Shui are the old art of co-ordinating between shape, proportion and direction of a building, its surroundings with the environment.

Are the principles of Vasthusasthra and Feng Shui applicable in India and China only respectively?

No.   The Principles of Vasthushastra and Feng Shui are based on the sun rays and magnetic rays flowing on the earth, which are not affected by man-made borders of the countries.

Can Vasthushastra and Feng Shui both be applied simultaneously in one Vasthu?

Yes.  The simultaneous application of Vasthushasthra and Feng Shui is much advantageous. Both should be applied under the advice of experienced and learned Vasthu Consultants.

How does Vasthu affect more than one property of the same person?

If a person owns more than one properties then the Vasthu of property he uses for his residence and business proposes affects his life.  The property, which he has given to others, will affect its users.  If a property, which is not in any use affects the owner only.

How does Vasthu affect more than one business premises of the same person?

If a business possesses more than one business premises, then he will enjoy all the advantages of the business premises which is as per Vasthu.  But he will have to face the disadvantages of all the Vasthu defects present in other business premises.

In our country houses are small.  Maximum people live in such houses where one or two rooms are shared by all the family members. In such a case what should be the solution?

It is auspicious to decorate a small house or one room house treating it as single Vasthu as per Vasthu, i.e in the south-east rigion of the room heart should be kept, water should be kept in the north-east angle and almirah should be kept in the south-west zone. Please read article entitled “Interior Decoration of One Room and Vathu” in the book “interior Decoration Vasthu and Feng Shui” by this author.

Young family member goes out of the house , in other city to study. Will the Vasthu defects of his house affect his carrer?

No. Wherever that young person lives in other city the Vasthu of that place or room will affect his carrer.

Does trying a cow or planting tulsi in front of the house eradicate Vasthu Defects?

Not at all.  Due to its utility the cow is treated as mother. To tie cow, to apply the cow dung on the courtyard and to wash the house with cow urine are all our religious faiths.  Similarly, due to its medicinal properties tulsi is worshipped.  This is also our religious faith.  Vasthusasthra is a science.  Hence there is no advantage in applying any religious faith to eradicate Vasthu defects.

In a house constructed as per Vasthu, can Vasthu defect originate per se?

Many changes occur around us on their own.  These sometimes create Vasthu defects even in a house constructed as per Vasthu defects even in a house constructed as per Vasthu.  For example, small plants in the north-east zone of a house when grow become big trees then they start obstructing vital morning sunrays.  It becomes a significant Vasthu defect.  If a highway or a bridge is constructed in the north or east and a big drain is constructed in the south or west of the house it creates a Vasthu defect.  So there are many factors that may create Vasthu defect in a house constructed as per Vasthu.

Is there any use of erecting Vasthu defect prevention machine?

Not at all.  There is no mention of any such machine in any book published on Vasthushasthra from the first book to any book till 1995.  This Vasthu defects prevention machine has been invented by some greedy Vasthu consultants to plunder innocent people.  It is created by charging very high price.  It does not give even 1% relief.

Is there any machine available to search Vasthu defects?

No,  The rishi-munis,  who invented Vasthushastra did not create such a machine.  There is no description of such a machine in any old Indian or Chinese book.  Some Vasthu consultants use “Lacquer Antenna” machine to detect Vasthu defets.  By doing so they simply plunder people as this machine is basically used to measure energy of environment and human system.

Can we eradicate Vasthu defects ourselves by merely reading a few books on the subject?

No.  Vasthushastra seems very easy while reading but very difficult when applied.  Only a few general Vasthu defects can be removed by reading some books but significant Vasthu defects can not be eradicated.  People with shallow knowledge can not even differentiate between general and significant Vasthu defect.  Hence it is recommended to consult an able and learned Vasthu consultant.

G Sand | Alternative for River Sand

G Sand is manufactured sand, obtained from specific hard rock (granite) using the state-of-the-art International technology. G Sand is cubical in shape and is manufactured using international technology like High  Carbon steel hit rock and then ROCK ON ROCK process which is synonymous to that of natural process undergoing in river sand formation.

Why G Sand ?

Sand is widely used in highway construction, concrete making, etc. As the field of industry application gradually expanded, the gradual application of natural sand work more and failed to keep pace with the various sectors of modern world development needs. Historically, a large percentage of sand has been produced from alluvial deposits. However we are now experiencing a global shortage of natural sand, and environmental pressures, costs and a shortage of this type of deposit has necessitated the manufacture of sand from quarried material.

One of the problems often experienced with natural sand is the presence of contaminants, which can be very difficult to remove. These contaminants may be silt, organic matters and sometimes, harmful chemicals, such as sulphates and chlorides, all of which can have significant detrimental effects on the performance of structural concrete. Manufactured sand, on the other hand, comes directly from good quality virgin rock, and thus very few, if any contaminants are present.

The main defect of river sand is that it contains various contaminants like mud, clay, organic wastes, sulphite, chloride etc, which are very difficult to separate from it. These residual contaminants weaken concrete. Since G sand ( Graded Sand) is manufactured from clean and qualitative rocks, it is free from contaminants.

Stop Wasting Energy And Start Saving Money With New Technology

Stop Wasting Energy And Start Saving Money With New Technology

The average homeowner spends almost 50% of their energy bills on heating and cooling costs. Though this is normal, it can be decreased dramatically by introducing smart technology into your home that will help you to save while you stay warmer through those cold winter months. If you are a new homeowner, it is wise to have energy saving technology installed when your home is being built. For those that own older properties, you may experiencing incredibly higher heating and cooling bills due to drafts coming through your windows and doors as well as dated thermostats. In this article we will explore technologies that will help you to save money while you stay warm.

How Programmable Thermostats Save You Money

Typically, people set their thermostats to one temperature and keep it constant throughout the day and night. While this makes sense from the standpoint of convenience, fiscally, it can drain your pockets. The Department of Energy estimates that you can save between 10% to 15% on your heating bills by manually setting your thermostat back a few degrees for at least eight hours per day. Unfortunately, this can be difficult to remember and you risk the uncomfortable reality of walking into a cold home when you come home from work or when you are waking up. This is when a programmable thermostat is useful. They can be programmed to raise the temperature before you wake up as well as before you come home. You will typically save more money than you spend on the unit within its first year of installation.

Stop Losing Heat And Install Energy Efficient Windows And Doors

While cold drafts are certainly uncomfortable during the winter, they are also costing you a major amount of money. If you have older doors and windows, it is estimated that about 30% of your heating energy is lost through them. This issue can be easily remedied by installing energy efficient windows and doors. They will effectively stop the cold drafts as well as help to keep your heat indoors. In addition, they will help to increase the value of your property.

Though some homeowners may be reluctant to install new energy saving technology to their homes due to the initial costs, the costs are typically recovered within the first year of installation by way of savings incurred when you efficiently heat and cool your home.

M Sand

M Sand | Substitute for River Sand

M sand (manufactured sand) is a substitute of river sand for concrete construction . Manufactured sand is produced from hard granite stone by crushing. The crushed sand is of cubical shape with grounded edges, washed and graded to as a construction material. The size of manufactured sand (M-Sand) is less than 4.75mm.

Why Manufactured Sand is Used?

M Sand  is an alternative for river sand. Due to fast growing construction industry, the demand for sand has increased tremendously, causing deficiency of suitable river sand in most part of the word.

Due to the depletion of good quality river sand for the use of construction, the use of manufactured sand has been increased. Another reason for use of M-Sand is its availability and transportation cost.

Since M sand can be crushed from hard granite rocks, it can be readily available at the nearby place, reducing the cost of transportation from far-off river sand bed.

Thus, the cost of construction can be controlled by the use of M sand as an alternative material for construction. The other advantage of using M-Sand is, it can be dust free, the sizes of m-sand can be controlled easily so that it meets the required grading for the given construction.

Advantages of Manufactured Sand (M Sand)

  • It is well graded in the required proportion.
  • It does not contain organic and soluble compound that affects the setting time and properties of cement, thus the required strength of concrete can be maintained.
  • It does not have the presence of impurities such as clay, dust and silt coatings, increase water requirement as in the case of river sand which impair bond between cement paste and aggregate. Thus, increased quality and durability of concrete.
  • M-Sand is obtained from specific hard rock (granite) using the state-of-the-art International technology, thus the required property of sand is obtained.
  • M-Sand is cubical in shape and is manufactured using technology like High Carbon steel hit rock and then ROCK ON ROCK process which is synonymous to that of natural process undergoing in river sand information.
  • Modern and imported machines are used to produce M-Sand to ensure required grading zone for the sand.

Properties of Manufactured Sand for Concrete Construction

Higher Strength of concrete

The manufactured sand has required gradation of fines, physical properties such as shape, smooth surface textures and consistency which makes it the best sand suitable for construction. These physical properties of sand provides greater strength to the concrete by reducing segregation, bleeding, honeycombing, voids and capillary.

Thus required grade of sand for the given purpose helps the concrete fill voids between coarse aggregates and makes concrete more compact and dense, thus increasing the strength of concrete.

Durability of concrete

Since manufactured sand (M-Sand) is processed from selected quality of granite, it has the balanced physical and chemical properties for construction of concrete structures.

This property of M-Sand helps the concrete structures withstand extreme environmental conditions and prevents the corrosion of reinforcement steel by reducing permeability, moisture ingress, freeze-thaw effect increasing the durability of concrete structures.

Workability of concrete

Size, shape, texture play an important role in workability of concrete. With more surface area of sand, the demand for cement and water increases to bond the sand with coarse aggregates.

The control over these physical properties of manufacturing sand make the concrete require less amount of water and provide higher workable concrete. The less use of water also helps in increasing the strength of concrete, less effort for mixing and placement of concrete, and thus increases productivity of construction activities at site.

Less Construction Defects

Construction defects during placement and post-concreting such as segregation, bleeding, honeycombing, voids and capillarity in concrete gets reduced by the use of M-Sand as it has optimum initial and final setting time as well as excellent fineness.

Economy

As discussed above, since usage of M-Sand has increased durability, higher strength, reduction in segregation, permeability, increased workability, decreased post-concrete defects, it proves to be economical as a construction material replacing river sand.

It can also save transportation cost of river sand in many cases.

Eco-Friendly

Usage of manufactured sand prevents dredging of river beds to get river sand which may lead to environmental disaster like ground water depletion, water scarcity, threat to the safety of bridges, dams etc. to make M-Sands more eco-friendly than river sand.

Kinds of Pergola Designs

Pergola Designs-A pergola is a garden feature forming a shaded walkway, passageway, or sitting area of vertical posts or pillars that usually support cross-beams and a sturdy open lattice, often upon which woody vines are trained. The origin of the word is the Late Latin pergula, referring to a projecting eave. As a type of gazebo, it may also be an extension of a building or serve as protection for an open terrace or a link between pavilions. They are different from green tunnels, with a green tunnel being a type of road under a canopy of trees.

The market competition analysis includes analysis of construction machinery industry the main points of the report: 1) internal competition in construction machinery industry. The cause of internal competition of the industry may have the following several kinds: One is the slow industry growth, market share of the fierce battle; two is the number of competitors are more competitive force of roughly the same; Three is the competition to provide products or services are roughly the same, or only little not show obvious difference; The four is some enterprises to scale economic benefit, expand the scale of production, the market equilibrium is broken, a large number of surplus products, enterprises began to resort to price competition. 2) construction machinery industry customer bargaining power. Industry customer may be consumers or users of the products in the industry, may also be commodity buyer. Bargaining power customer in will make the seller to reduce prices, improve the quality of products and provide better service. 3) suppliers of construction machinery industry in the performance of suppliers bargaining ability, can effectively promote the buyer to accept higher prices, the earlier time of payment or a more reliable way of payment. 4) potential competitors of the threat of the construction machinery industry, the potential competition on finger who might go into industry to participate in the competition of the enterprise, they will bring new production capacity, the sharing of existing resources and market share, the result is the production cost rise, the market competition intensifies, the product selling price decline, industry profits decrease. 5) replace the product pressure construction machinery industry, refers to the same function, or to meet the product competition pressure also needs to be substitutes for each other. plastering machine | automatic
